Recently we delivered a set of wedding cakes to The Laurel in Grapevine. The bride asked us to create a Cake Bar comprised of five different flavored cakes instead of the traditional stacked wedding cake.
The bride still wanted one of the cakes to stand out as the 'wedding cake' for the traditional cake cutting, so we made her cake slightly larger than the others. This centerpiece was our Champagne Cake which was filled with Raspberry Buttercream, iced in Swiss Meringue Buttercream, and decorated with hand made gold gelatin sequins to resemble champagne bubbles drifting up the side of the cake.
One of the cakes was designated as the groom's cake. This was our Chocolate Stout cake filled with Chocolate Hazelnut Buttercream. This decadent cake was iced in Chocolate Buttercream and crowned with chocolate ganache. The bride and groom have a friend that made the toppers for all of their cakes.
This wedding was over Memorial Day Weekend, and also featured two summery flavors. A Lemon Cake filled with Lavender Blackberry Buttercream was iced with Swiss Meringue Buttercream before a quilt pattern and pearls were added. The other was a Strawberry Cake filled with Cream Cheese Buttercream and iced with a Strawberry Buttercream ruffle.
Rounding out the Cake Bar was another traditional groom's flavor - Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Buttercream.
I love that the bride used unique stands, toppers, and designs for each cake making each one as individual as it's flavor! The cake servers were instructed to cut the slices thinner than usual so that the guests could have more than one piece. I don't think I could have selected just one!
