This fun birthday cake was delivered to a sweet little girl having a Lalaloopsy themed party. She wanted a cake with Scoops Waffle Cone on it, so we purchased the mini version of the doll and placed her on the cake board on site. The cake design is similar to the character's ice cream shop. There was a lot of detail on and in this cake!
The bottom tier was Neopolitan - layers of Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry cake - filled with white chocolate buttercream. Normally, my cake tiers contain 4 layers and come to about 4.5 or 5" tall, but to make the flavors alternate evenly, I went with all 6 layers.
This tier came to 6.5" BEFORE the final coat of icing and fondant (ok, you can stop laughing at my ruler now). I love the contrast of the different layers, and I think this would make a great choice for a naked cake or barely iced cake.
The top tier was Cookies & Cream cake filled with vanilla buttercream. Here it is before the 4th layer was added. Mmmm... cookies.
And what ice cream shop would be complete without a little ice cream? I added a couple of treats ready to be picked up at the window.
I made a lot of fondant waffle cone for this cake as well. The roof of the first floor and the banner with the birthday girl's name were pressed with the back of a chopstick and the miniature cones were pressed with the end of a match stick. The roof was topped with chocolate sauce and sprinkles, of course!
The birthday girl was ready to eat as soon as I got the cake unboxed... can you blame her?
