This weekend I made a boy's baby shower cake. I don't get to do them too often (for some reason I get more requests for girl's showers), so it was a lot of fun to complete this project! Mom-to-be is a hockey fan, but not of a specific team, so we went with a generic fondant jersey accented in blue on the bottom tier which also had fondant referee stripes. The top tier had baby's name framed in hockey sticks with hockey pucks and more sticks around the sides.
The cake was topped with a fondant hockey puck and skates. The only part of the hockey skates that were not edible was the interior of the blades.
The cake was my Chocolate Cookies & Cream recipe, it was filled with Cookies & Cream buttercream, and it was covered in vanilla buttercream. Dad to be picked up the cake which was great practice for driving with a baby in the back seat!
