The open house at River Road Chateau was a couple of weeks ago, and I just finally got around to getting the pictures off my camera. I love, love, love how this cake I took to the open house turned out!
This cake has a rustic buttercream bottom and top tier, and the middle tier is a green double barrel covered with pearls in a classic Swiss dot design. What's a double barrel? It's basically two cake tiers of the same size stacked and iced so that it looks like a single, tall tier. There is a support plate with pillars in the middle of that tier, so all the guests are still served the same size cake slices.
Varying the height of the tiers creates visual interest, and I thought this tall middle tier was the perfect spot to highlight a monogram by creating a vintage looking picture frame around the initial. Both the frame and monogram were made from pink fondant and then brushed with an edible gold sheen.
This cake would look great in a number of venues. It's rustic, elegant, and vintage all in one sweet cake!
I recently participated in a wedding showcase hosted by a new venue in Anna, TX - River Road Chateau. If you are getting married in the Dallas area, you NEED to check them out. This place is gorgeous! I mean, just look at how pretty it is all lit up at night... and that's the LAST image your guests will have of your wedding. What a lovely view to cap off a beautiful wedding!
The meadow is where the ceremonies are held. and the carved posts holding the doors are fabulous!
And then you come through these beautiful doors for the wedding reception. Just look at those chandeliers!
Here is a peek at our table of display cakes and samples from the open house. I love how the pale green cake with the monogram turned out - look for details soon!
And... see that guy in the background? My display table was set up right next to the DJ, Pinnacle Elite Entertainment, for the event, and I can't recommend him highly enough. Why? He was actually the DJ at my own wedding 10 years ago, and we still get compliments from friends and family on how good the music was and how smoothly it was run!
If you are getting married, you really have to see this venue in person to appreciate all the details - there are just too many to put into a blog post. Call Jessica at 972-567-1001 to set up a tour!
For the second time in a week, I have a cake featured on the Cake Central blog! This article highlights 65 Amazing Valentine Cakes.
Look familiar? This was the same cake that was selected just a few weeks ago to be a finalist in the January Who Takes the Cake contest on the Rose Bakes blog.
I'm thrilled to have been featured again over at Cake Central as they chose from thousands of photos in their galleries. I'm feeling the love!
We are so excited to be a part of the open house River Road Chateau is hosting at their fabulous venue in Anna, TX on 2/10/16!
We are going to have some great cakes on display, and Melisa will be there with samples of our White Chocolate Wedding Cake and Chocolate Almond flavors.
Come out to tour this beautiful venue, meet some awesome vendors (the DJ actually did my wedding almost 10 years ago - he is the best!), and have some delicious food!
Check out the event on Facebook, or register for a FREE ticket.
With the Super Bowl fast approaching, Cake Central has just posted their picks of Top Football Cakes. I am excited to say that Sweet By Design was included in the draft, with this cake we completed just a couple of months ago!
To see all of the cakes that were featured, check out Cake Central's blog post.
